1) Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of the French AOC system and present a case for its validity when applied to a wine producing country in the New World. The case should be looked at from an economic, cultural and winemaking point of view.
2) Frances three major growing regions of Bordeaux, Burgundy and Champagne are all unique from a geographical, cultural and wine making point of view. Choose any two regions and make a comparative study of the regions while making a case for the specific grape varieties grown in those regions.
Example: Why is Pinot Noir the main red grape in Burgundy and not Cabernet Sauvignon.
3) Compare viticultural practices with any of the three major French regions with another well known region in the New World. This comparison should demonstrate your understanding of the different practices and their reasons for being undertaken.
