As we know HIPAA helps protect the health information of our patients. However, many practitioners do not understand the requirements of HIPAA. As an HIS professional how would you explain to a new nurse in your facility the importance of the HIPAA system in the facility in which you are both employed? Would this organization be considered a covered entity? Be sure to incorporate values of privacy, confidentiality, and security. Your post must be written in third person, include any references to outside material that you may use.
